Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to nearly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas, making it Uganda's flagship wildlife experience. Guided by expert trackers and rangers, small groups hike through dense, ancient rainforest — anywhere from one to several hours — to reach a habituated gorilla family. Once found, visitors spend a strictly limited hour observing the gorillas at close range: watching youngsters play, silverbacks patrol their territory, and mothers care for their young. The trek itself is a rewarding adventure through one of Africa's oldest and most biodiverse forests, and permits directly fund gorilla conservation and local community programs.
